Back to the Salt Mines

Friends!

Well here I am, back at work after a month off.  Naturally, the first day I forgot my keys and badge, but at least I remembered my lunch!  I had to mortgage my soul to Security to get entry and a spare key...who runs this place, anyway?  The security here is pants.  I hope to regain my vital essence when I turn in the key at 15:00...especially since it only opened about half the doors I needed it to.  Guess who has a note in their bag that says "KEYS!!!" on it?

So, first thing, I sat down, and couldn't remember my password to get on the computer.  No problem, there's a workaround, but then the system didn't like any of the NEW passwords I selected.  Stupid technology...when I finally got logged on there was an email from the IT team stating that the password requirements had been tightened up.  Sheesh.  No wonder I had such a hard time.

I read a month's worth of mail in about ten minutes.

I read a month's worth of log entries in another ten.

I ate my sandwich and walked around the plant.

And now I'm bored.

Before my surgery I was afraid I was going to go batshit with boredom.  The funny thing is, it didn't happen!  I dug deep and discovered heretofore unknown reservoirs of lazyness.  At first I resisted, reading books and doing small odd jobs to combat ennui, and then, as time wore on, I caved into the compulsion to nap.  From there it was just one small step to sleeping late, and a tiny nudge into wearing pajamas all day.

I was actively lazy for three weeks, and boy, was it ever great!  No deadlines, no compulsion to clean, no nothing!  Just hang out, watch the Cats, and enjoy life.
How soon to retirement?

Haha! There's a lot to be said for napping, but I admit I find it hard to stay inside all day unless I'm desperately tired, ill, or have a lot to do in the house. But I'm big on afternoon naps--or used to be. Don't nap much on weekends anymore, I just fall asleep under my desk at work and start snoring. :-P

Seriously, I'm glad you're well enough to be back at work, even if you *are* bored!

Me and the Lady Of The House could easily surrender to the delights of laziness - in fact I think I do most days while she's busy tip-tapping away on the computer and putting the world to rights.

Oh your post remind my mom about good day of laziness after she had surgery : ) But she said it wasn't good like yours because at that time, she didn't have me : )

Love you Mom Trish.

Good to see you are easing back into the workload..best of both worlds having time with the kitties and still being on hand to keep the "water running"!

Thank goodness you aren't missing that defective Hisser. :-) It was good to know you're back and at 'em again. Laughed at forgetting the two most impawtent things besides lunch of course, MOL

Glad to hear back to work when so easily! Except for forgetting the keys and the passwords. Funny since I've been retired I still use some of my passwords as replacements for some of my functions online. It's a semi reminder that I can lay around all day in my pj's if'n I wanna!

P.S. If you head up to Winnipeg at any time (you would prefer summer!) the whitesters would welcome you in with open paws! And I hear that the grouchy old papa bear and mama bear are actually quite nice!

Good to know you are feeling better now that you are minus your "spare parts". Mum says she wishes she could count down to retiring.

Glad you are back to work and getting into the groove again. We are sure the lounge kitties are missing having you around!

Yeah ... work is well over-rated! I'm semi retired and I love it! I can't wait for my pension!

Last year after I got laid off, I pretty much slept thru June (partly from stress, partly from lack of sleep). In July - September, I kept surprisingly busy - we had lots of foster kittens who needed lots of medical care. I found it hard to keep up my stamina once I went back to work five days a week in October. Love afternoon naps on the weekends!
